What is Spider Defense?

Spider Defense is a cozy tower defense game for phones, played in portrait with one thumb. Cute teal spiders sit on round wooden platforms and defend a glowing, web-wrapped egg from waves of bugs. Build a spider on a pad, upgrade it twice, and call the next wave early for bonus silk.

Every world is a complete idea rather than a reskin: its own path, its own bugs, its own boss and its own light, from a sunny garden gate to a toy train track and a frozen pond at night.

Highlights

What makes it fun

  • The Seed Spitter tower: a teal spider with twin seed cannons

    Four spiders, four jobs

    The Web Weaver slows crowds and nets fliers, the Seed Spitter fires rapid single shots, the Acorn Mortar splashes armour but cannot hit fliers, and the Amber Coil chains lightning through swarms. Each upgrades through three levels.

  • Bugs with tricks

    Shell Beetles shrug off half the damage except from acorns, Leaf Carriers shield their friends, Dash Mites sprint, Silk Caterpillars spin cocoons that hatch moths, and Roly-Polies curl up and roll.

  • A boss on waves 10 and 20

    The Stag King opens his shell to show a glowing weak spot. The Orchid Mantis blooms so no tower can single her out, then strikes and dazes a tower. The Millipede Express uncouples when you break a car.

  • Boards that change the rules

    Blossom Bridge crosses itself at a lantern crossroads. Toybox Town has railway points you can hold with a lever and a tunnel nothing can see into. Frostlight Garden has three doors and a frozen pond where bugs slide.

  • Easy to Nightmare

    Four difficulty modes on every world. Nightmare brings angry bosses and golden bugs; Easy gives extra silk and softer waves.

  • Read every bug

    A wave sign shows what is coming, damage numbers float over every hit, any bug can be tapped for its card, and the Field Guide has a page for every bug: what it is weak to and what it resists.

The bosses

Each world ends its tenth and twentieth waves with a boss that has one readable trick and a clear counter.

  • Stag King: a black and red stag beetle boss

    Stag King

    Rushes with his shell shut, then opens it and takes extra damage while his gem glows.

  • Ant King: a red ant with a crown, cape and sceptre

    Ant King

    Marches in with an escort and calls more Royal Guards to his side.

  • Bee King: a round bumblebee with a crown holding a honey pot

    A flier that dives and lands; only a resting Bee King can be netted.

  • Orchid Mantis: a pink and white flower mantis with a small crown

    Stalks, blooms out of reach of single targets, then strikes and dazes a tower.

  • Millipede Express: a red train-like millipede with a conductor cap

    A train of cars: break one and the cars behind it run on as their own train.

  • Snowball King: a crowned bug pushing a giant snowball

    Rolls a snowball that soaks seeds and webs. Break it and he is dazed.
